At Gladstone Nurseries our objective is to work with farmers to establish a thriving and growing hazelnut industry in Ontario. Our climate and soils are ideally suited for this crop. With many new disease resistant and cold hardy varieties being grown in Ontario already, and at least 10 new varieties coming soon, the last pieces are in place for Ontario farmers to achieve this goal.
In our own orchards, we are in year six of production and our yields and quality have been on par with those in Oregon which has become one of the major world centres of production in the last 20 to 30 years. We are committed to putting the Ontario hazelnut industry on the same path.
